Because of my coaching job, I have the amazing opportunity to talk with people about their lives and the meaning of life itself, but it’s surprising to see how many of them feel hopeless. They seem to be a little bit apathetic about the future and negative about what is about to come tomorrow, next month or the next year. They feel they are trapped in the present situation and that nothing can be done to take them out of that discomfort.
If you are in this mindset, you have allowed your mind to believe that you are at the mercy of destiny. But what if this is true? What if, no matter what you do, you cannot control anything that is happening to you? In these cases, you have two choices: to continue being a victim of destiny and keep your energy levels in this apathetic mode or to develop a courageous mindset and start living a fearless life with a little more joy.
What to do when you cannot find a courageous mindset within yourself?
Every time you wonder and think that something is going to end up wrong and that your life is not going as well as you wanted it to be, STOP! Take a step back and be aware of that thought and change it. Think about how much you value yourself, be grateful for all the things you have and try to bring your mind to your body to the present moment. In the “now,” nothing is really happening, and life is beautiful as it is.
Dust off the child that still remains inside you. Dream big and with details. Dream with your heart and your core values, not with the social limitations or cultural standards of what being successful means. Those are also programs installed in your brain and are not what you really want. Write down your goals and the vision of the future you want for each one of the different pillars of your life, such as relationships, adventure, fun, entertainment, health, finance, and spiritual growth.
Try to make conscious that you are the creator of your life, and the tools to do so are your mind, your thoughts and the words you speak. Believe that you are the creator of your life, and you will become what you think and what you say, and only good things can result from that. You only want good things to happen, don’t you?
The connection with the present moment
Overall, never forget to be in the present moment. Writing down your goals does not mean that you are going to be living in the future and obsessed with that picture. The only thing real in your life is the present moment, “the now”, and nothing else. On top of that, the present moment is the only connection you have with that future, so start taking little steps with love, joy, and passion.
Developing a courageous mindset is about recognizing that your thoughts are not true, writing down your goals and dreams, believing that you are the creator of your life, and living in the present moment. With practice, these tools can help you move to a higher energy level, be more positive, and start a change in your life.
